AIRBRUSH

COLOR AND COMPOSITION

This is a class that explores color theory, color harmony, color mixing, Alber’s color theory and more. The class is geared to anyone who works in any 2-D medium including painting, drawing, quilting, weaving etc., for anyone who wants to know more about putting together an artwork.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY I

JEWELRY: ENAMELING OF SILVER JEWELRY

Saturday 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.  STUDIO 3.  Tuition: $170.00 Non-members $155.00 Members.  Material fee: $30.00 payable to instructor.   Using high temperature enamels, students will fabricate jewelry using 2 types of enameling, cloisonné, and paint.  Tools are provided. Fabrication experience is helpful.

Students will create jewelry by soldering, cutting,  forming sheets and using  wire metal. Classes will cover chasing and forging.  Safety methods will be discussed.  

THE JOURNAL: ILLUMINATED AND ILLUSTRATED

Einstein scribbled notes and fragments of formulas in a pocket diary. Imagine what you might reveal to yourself by adding images to your words. Journal entries can trigger inspired art. Reveal your genius and create small masterpieces simultaneously. By adding color, form and texture to express your perceptions, you’ll become as illuminated as your pages.

INTRO TO OIL PAINTING

Oil painting dates back to the early 15th century Europe. Learn to master the basic principles of this noble and ancient painting medium with this introductory course. Students are introduced to oil painting techniques, color theory, composition, light, values and the proper use and care of materials. Get individual attention and helpful critiques. Each student will end up producing a still life, landscape and self-portrait. Live demos will be executed in class by master fine artist Patrick McGrath. Previous drawing experience highly recommended.

LIFE DRAWING/EMPHASIZING ANATOMY

The aim of this course is to gain a basic knowledge of the skeleton and musculature of the live model. Looking at the Old Masters and historical examples, we will see how to make expressive use of anatomical knowledge.

OIL PAINTING: TECHNIQUES OF THE OLD MASTERS

Discover the secrets of the Old Masters. This course is aimed at introducing students to the techniques of Old Masters such as Titian, Peter Paul Rubens and Velázquez. By copying a masterpiece, students will learn how to reproduce a painting in the style and manner reminiscent of one of the artist mentioned above. Students work primarily with oil painting and develop good observation skills while learning how to paint in an orderly and traditional manner using grisaille and glazing system. Previous painting experience and art training is highly recommended.

PASTEL PASSION

Call office for material list.  Create velvety colors and textures unlike those of paint when you choose to use soft, hard or oil pastels (stick or pencil). Discover your own style by experimenting freely with a variety of techniques and recommendations.

PORTRAITURE PHOTOGRAPHY ON LOCATION
Instructor: Nick Wozniak     
Tuesday 5:30-7:30 p.m.         STUDIO 1
This class will cover the basic fundamentals of location photography using a digital SLR camera with an external flash. We will cover using flash photography as a primary light source, using flash as a fill light, composing an image on a location, and the fine art and commercial side of portraiture photography. You will need a digital SRL camera and an external flash.

POTTERY

This class has it all; from basic or advanced hand building and wheel throwing to various decoration techniques (colored slips, inlayed colored clay, sgraffito, incising, carving, stamping, sprigging, feathering, slip trailing and more) and several firing methods (low fire glazing techniques, high fire stoneware glazing, raku firing, and pit firing). With the holidays just a few months away, this is the perfect time to make your own professional looking gifts. Both functional and one of a kind decorative pieces in addition to bead making will be presented. You will be amazed at the beautiful pieces you create.

SCULPTURE: BRONZE CASTING
