CHILDREN'S ART CLASSES @ MAC:  FALL TERM 2008

Fall 2008 Art Classes for Children will begin the week of September 8 and continue for two six week sessions. Ages are 6-12 year olds.  Tuition: $90.00 Non-member $80.00 Member.  Space is limited. Tuition must be paid in advance.

SESSION 1     September 8-October 17
SESSION 2     October 27-December 6

BEGINNING POTTERY
Instructor: Cindy McDowell
Thursday  4:30 p.m-6:30 p.m.     STUDIO 2
Tuition: (includes firing fee): $110. Non-members $100.00 members
Material fee: $25.00 payable to the instructor
Students will learn basic hand building skills. Each child will be assigned projects, with free time to practice techniques, and be introduced to wheel throwing, decoration techniques and raku. Students supply their own smock or apron, and towel.

DRAWING AND CARTOONING, SCI-FI and FANTASY ART
Instructor: Terri Markle
Thursday  6:00-8:00 p.m.          STUDIO 1
Material fee: $5.00 payable to instructor
Basic techniques and approaches of drawing and cartooning comic strips, illustration, and caricature composition.  NOTE: All ages.

DRAWING/ WATERCOLOR and ACRYLICS
Instructor: Ruth Schorer
Tuesday  4:30-6:30 p.m.       STUDIO 3
Material fee: $20.00 payable to instructor the first day of class
Students will be encouraged to be creative, learning the techniques of drawing, watercolor and acrylics.

HOW TO DRAW AND PAINT WILDLY FUN ANIMALS
Instructor: Brian Demeter
Friday  4:00-6:00 p.m.     STUDIO 4
Material fee: $15.00 payable to the instructor the first day of class
Students will have fun learning the basics of drawing and painting simply silly animals. If you’re new to drawing and painting or if you just love animals, this class is perfect for you.  Parents welcome!

LITTLE ARTIST: MESS IT UP WITH MIXED MEDIA (ages 4-5 year olds) PARENT AND CHILD

Monday 10:00 a.m.-12noon           STUDIO 4
Material fee: $25.00 payable to instructor the first day of class
Let your budding artist experience art with all their senses. Children will experiment with a variety of materials to explore the elements of art while developing social and fine motor skills. We will look at famous works of art and use our imagination for inspiration as we cut, paste, paint and sculpt the world around us. Projects are different each session. Please dress appropriately for art, it’s a messy business!

POTTERY: WHEEL THROWING FOR KIDS

Wednesday  4:30-6:30      STUDIO 2
Tuition: (includes firing fee): $110.00 Non-member $100.00 Member
Material fee: $25.00 payable to instructor the first day of class
Must have experience and be at least 9 years old. Students will gain knowledge about throwing on the wheel. Skills taught will be centering, opening, and raising the walls of a pot. Glazing will include both high fire stoneware, low fire commercial and raku glazes. A raku firing will take place during the last class.
