MOMENTS OF LIGHT, WATER & AIR, William E. Orr
November 7 - December 21, 2008

Seascape with Rocks by Billy Orr

This exhibition features many new works by Central Florida artist, William E. Orr.  Billy is the son of the Maitland Art Center’s Trustee Emeritus and artist, Bill Orr.  Billy grew up on the grounds of the Maitland Art Center and his artistic creations reflect the influence of this upbringing in the colors, texture, and subjects of his works.  “Those formative years living and playing in André’s natural outdoor space influences my work, even today . . .” states Billy.  In October/December 1993, father and son were featured in a joint exhibition at the Art Center.  Billy grew up in his father’s art studio and in museums in Washington, DC and New York City, constantly exposed to art and the creative process of the art world.  He is a plein-air painter, a luminist, and an expressionist/impressionist.  The exhibition will feature many different styles of Billy’s painting techniques and subjects—portraits, animals, landscapes, etc.
