The Maitland Art Center’s Board of Trustees events committee is busy putting together a bundle of tantalizing choices for the 2008-2009 “Dining with an Artist” series. Guests spend an evening or an afternoon at various homes or studios in company with artists and fellow art-lovers and share food, drink and good conversation. The committee is presenting up to 7 events for the season, each costing $100. Proceeds go to MAC’s Acquisition Fund. Among the choices so far: Saturday, January 10, 2009 – Creative photographer, Shelley Lake invites you to her new studio /gallery in Winter Park. Saturday, February 7, 2009 - Well-known Tampa glass artist Duncan McClellan will host an evening in his roomy studio. Those who sign up will have the option of driving over or taking a bus. Additional bus transportation fees will be based on the number of registrations. Saturday, February 28 - MAC Board of Trustee member Alison Horne and her business partner, Rita Canan, will open their studio for a Asian inspired gathering. Note: Dates are subject to change. Sculpting - Bronze Casting - Jewelry Fabrication

See sculpting, bronze casting and jewelry fabrication in action. Lectures and demonstrations of 3D sculpting in clay and wax, with a live model. Bronze casting lectures with full display of the ‘lost wax process, with multiple pours of molten silver and bronze from Noon – 3PM. Ongoing demonstrations and discussions about jewelry fabrication culminating with a live silver casting at 2PM.

Students will have the opportunity to draw and paint from a live model. Each week will alternate between long and short poses. Class will not have instruction, only occasional critiques.
