The Maitland Art Center is pleased to present this listing of traveling exhibitions for the web. Each exhibition, including several new entries, is represented with a detailed entry, including a description and booking information. The exhibitions we offer are of modest size (none requiring more than 125 running feet) and are reasonably priced, accessible to smaller venues or larger ones who host multiple exhibitions.

Communities: Featuring the relationship of the Maitland Art Centers
founder, André Smith, with the famous African American writer, Zora Neale
Hurston, and their respective communities. The exhibitions core is a series
of paintings done by Smith of Eatonville (Hurstons hometown) in the 1940s.
Photographic reproductions and text accompany to illustrate that time.
The
Glory of Venice: La Serenissima, exhibited at the Center in the Spring
of 2003. All the works in the exhibition drawings, etchings, etc. depict
Venice in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Artists include Jules André
Smith, Ernest Roth, Edgar Chahine, Levon West, Louis Rosenberg, Otto Bacher, and
James McBey, among others.

BOOKING INFORMATION Exhibitions are offered for four week periods, with longer bookings by arrangement. A rental fee is charged which covers all organizational costs including a $250 deductible (per item) all-risk insurance. The borrower is responsible for the deductive. The borrower further agrees to notify the Maitland Art Center immediately of any theft or damage while the exhibition is in its possession. The installation of the exhibition is the responsibility of the exhibitor, and unless otherwise noted, the material arrives for installation. Exhibition implementation is NOT included. Small three-dimensional items must be shown in secured cases. A facility fact report shall be completed by the borrower and returned to the Maitland Art Center prior to contract. The contract, when completed and signed, is a binding agreement between the Maitland Art Center and the borrowing institution. Access to exhibitions shall not be denied to anyone on the basis of race, color, origin, handicap or age. If an exhibition is canceled after a contract has been signed, the exhibitor is responsible for fifty percent (50%) of the exhibit rental fee. If the cancellation is within ninety (90) days of the opening date stated in the contract, the exhibitor is responsible for the entire rental fee. All cancellation notices must be made in writing. A 25% deposit is required with the signed contract, 25% will be billed 30 days prior to the exhibition date and the remaining 50% balance is due within thirty (30) days of receipt of the exhibit and the Maitland Art Center will invoice the exhibitor. Condition report books are supplied in the crates and must be completed upon receipt of the exhibition and prior to packing the exhibition for its next venue. A press kit can be provided prior to the scheduled opening and contains a suggested press release, photographs suitable for newspaper reproduction, checklists, crate lists, and other pertinent information. Any publicity materials for the exhibition should include the credit line: "This exhibition is circulated by the Maitland Art Center. Two copies of any publicity and/or catalogues published by the exhibitor should be forwarded to the Maitland Art Center. Exhibitions are shipped PREPAID to the next exhibitor as per shipping instructions. Non-receipt of materials should be reported to the Maitland Art Center within 24 hours of expected shipment arrival. If MACTES must step in to expedite late pickup or shipment, the exhibitor will be invoiced $200 in addition to shipping costs for this service. Exhibits must be packed and ready for shipment within 72 hours of the closing of the exhibit. No repairs can be made to art work without prior explicit permission from the Maitland Art Center. For the protection of the collections, and to conform to insurance regulations, the borrower agrees to provide fire precautions according to local regulations, protection from theft and care in unpacking, handling, and repacking of the exhibition. All damage and loss must be reported to as soon as discovered. A gallery attendant is required to be in the exhibition area at all times when the exhibit is open to the public. Objects may be photographed for publicity and condition reports only. Special permission must be obtained in writing for any other reproduction purpose. A signed contract must be received by the Maitland Art Center before shipment of an exhibition can be made. |
