HOW TO BECOME AN ARTIST’S MODEL

Instructor: Chuck Miller
Sunday March 28, 2010   12noon-5:00 p.m.
Germaine Marvel Building
Tuition: $30.00 Non-members $27.00 Members

The MAC modeling workshop is designed to demystify the craft of art modeling. This workshop is an intense learning experience that includes a classroom session as well as a practical session. The classroom portion of the workshop will cover such topics as, the history of art modeling, the mechanics of modeling, mental aspects, and the business issues to name a few. The practical portion of the workshop will allow students to actually practice modeling under the guidance of experienced models. The practice session will culminate in an actual “Open Studio” session in which artists have an opportunity to draw the student models. Students may elect to wear briefs or bikini for the practical session should they not yet be completely comfortable with the concept of nude modeling. Students should bring a robe to the workshop.

FOUND OBJECT STUDIO
Instructor: Richard Reep
Sunday March 28, 2010  1:00-4:00 p.m.   STUDIO 6
Tuition: $50.00 Non-members $45.00 Member

The instructor will refresh students with a short history of the Found Object in Western Art, then contrast this with the history of the Found Object in Asian art and culture. This will provide a foundation for understanding. The instructor will then reveal as approach to found object art. The approach will be verbalized and illustrated, using examples from the artist’s own body of work as well as others. Students are invited to bring objects to the class for participation in a found object workshop. The instructor will take the students through a process that can lead to works of art. Final finished pieces are not the goal of this workshop; rather the goal is to reveal an insight into the process which can yield individual and unique results to each artist. A question and answer discussion period will close the workshop. A hand out will include a more complete syllabus and a reading list.
